At Drafting Mechanix,
our products are more than deliverables;
they’re designed for empowering you
to maximize safety, reliability, and value.
Mechanical and Civil Drafting and Design

Drafting Mechanix started in 1985 as a drafting service and focused on digitizing physical paper drawings into a CAD environment, along with mapping and architectural drawings
Today this is still necessary, alongside 3d modeling, assemblies, process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), fabrication, bill of material takeoffs, and many other applications. If it needs to be communicated, we can put it on “paper”. We specialize in Mechanical and Civil drafting for compression and pipeline, automotive, architectural industries.
Digitize to GIS for large facilities
Using existing station drawings, CAD files (if available), and publicly available aerial imagery, we can convert your record drawings into GIS-ready linework with attribution. We collect information on-site as needed and partner with local surveyors who specialize in Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE), Photogrammetry, and LiDAR from land and air.
That data can adhere to a UPDM (Utility Pipeline Data Model), PODS (Pipeline Open Data Standard), some variant thereof, or something bare-bones that will get your stack of station prints into a 3d GIS environment such as ArcGIS Pro and Google Earth.

Parts Qualifying

Why install an out-of-tolerance (OOT) part?
If you know about it beforehand, you can avoid costly and inconvenient outages.
Our unique methods of metrology and data modeling equip you with the knowledge of which parts are the best, average, or junk. We call our qualifying system “Life-Span”.
When used in conjunction with Root Cause Failure Analysis and data trends through run-time, our process will help your team gain insights to predict how long parts will last. Strong Data Modeling and Statistical methods, along with AI, will provide further insights that will help you make data-driven decisions and maximize reliability.
Investigation and Failure Analysis
Using first-principles logic in the context of trends and history, we ask the hard questions and keep our bias at bay so you can make data-based decisions (which may or may not confirm your hunches). If there is a smoking gun, we will help you find it.
Often, it’s a mix of casualties: geometry, manufacturing, repair procedures, material quality, or other factors. The results will help guide your team toward a more reliable system.
Applications have been reciprocating engine heads and crankshaft parts, and concrete foundations, with more on the way.
We use the right tool for the job, using tried-and-true proven methods, manual hand tools, and the latest tech. Our findings will be repeatable.
We will craft the presentation of the findings so your “Customers” can grasp the gist quickly.

Reciprocating Engine Catwalk Design

We design our working surfaces and catwalks with the user in mind (ergonomics) using actual measurements from the subject Unit(s), while adhering to OSHA and other applicable safety standards.
We provide shop-ready drawings, allowing the catwalks to be fabricated off-site while minimizing true-up time during installation.
Our Designs are designed to be as modular as possible, making overhauls, head exchanges, and maintenance easier.
